I have been doing some research of songs Brandon and I enjoy and trying to incorporate them into our day. These are just some ideas and I would love other suggestions and feedback even requests! I have linked all of the songs to YouTube so just click to hear the song.
Mother/Son Dance:
I do not want to choose this song. I believe this song should have sentimental meaning to Brandon and his mother. I have been looking at songs for suggestions however a song for this dance has yet to be decided.
- Aaron Lines "20 Years Late"
- Carole King "Child of Mine"
- Barry Manilow "I Am Your Child"
- Backstreet Boys "Perfect Fan" - (Although this sounds lame it is a very nice song)
- James Taylor & Carole King "You've Got a Friend"
- Josh Groban "You Raise Me Up"
- Natalie Merchant "Kind & Generous"
- Van Morrison or Rod Stewart "Have I Told You Lately"
- Johnny Reid "Time Flies"
Obviously this will not be a "Father/Daughter" dance but I have not yet decided who I would like to ask to dance with me for this. I have been looking for songs that could work in different scenarios.
- Johnny Reid "Out of the Blue"
- Van Morrison or Rod Stewart "Have I Told You Lately"
- Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble "The Way You Look Tonight"
- Reba McEntire "My Sister"
- James Taylor & Carole King "You've Got a Friend"
- Glee Cast "Lean On Me"
- Carrie Underwood "Whenever You Remember"
We talked about all of the following songs as options.
- Randy Travis "Forever and Ever Amen"
- Brad Paisley "Little Moments"
- Brad Paisley "She's Everything"
- Keith Urban "Got it Right This Time"
- Paul Brant "I Do"
- Michael Buble "Everything"
Bouquet Toss, Garter Removal, Garter Toss & Cake Cutting:
I am torn here as to whether I should choose traditional songs or just super fun songs... I'm definitely leaning towards fun!
Bouquet Toss:
- Pink "Raise Your Glass"
- J-Lo ft. Pitbull "On the Floor"
- Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"
Garter Removal:
Garter Toss:
- George Thorogood "Bad to the Bone"
- The Offspring "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)"
- Will Smith "Men In Black"
Cutting of the Cake:
- The Archies"Sugar, Sugar"
- Johnny Reid "Love Sweet Love"
- Bryan Adams "Cuts Like a Knife"
- Michael Buble "How Sweet It Is"
There will obviously be lots of time for additional songs during cocktails, dinner and dancing but it is exciting to pick songs to represent landmark moments throughout the night.
P.S. Congrats to Christine and Robert on their wedding today!!
Hey Liz! I like the song choices you have there. Robert and I didn't do a garter or bouquet toss because (and I bet I an odd here):
ReplyDelete- I didn't want Robert going up my dress--I was already going to be hot and sweaty from standing all day in the dress and I didn't want him seeing that, further I didn't want his 80 year old grandmother seeing that.
- I didn't want to pay for an extra set of flowers and I didn't want to toss MY bouquet! Selfish!! :D
I agree about the first dance song being about the love between you two. Robert and I danced to "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel and it was absolutely perfect. We both teared up. And be mentally prepared that the song will feel very long as everyone is watching you. I would go for a song that is under 4 minutes so it doesn't feel as long.
We also had to pick a song for our last song (we went with "Beautiful Tonight" by Eric Clapton) and a song to dedicate to the guests (we went with "Moment Like This " by Kelly Clarkson).
Good luck with the song choices! The music, no pun intended, really sets the mood for the night :)
What about the "Father"/Daughter dance, since you do not know who it is going to be yet....dance to Johnny Reid "Dance with Me". There are lots of great songs out there, but, lots of country songs if you really listen to the words. Our first dance song was "Angel Eyes" by the Late Jeff Healy...ask Brandon.....he was there....LOL!! AJ
ReplyDeleteI guess I was a little off on the Johnny Reid song...I meant it as your first dance song and not the "Father/Daughter" dance. It was a little late at night when I posted the comment...Sorry...AJ
