40 Days and 40 Nights... to go!

I firstly want to thank all my bridesmaids and my Soon-To-Be-Sisters-In-Law for a terrific Birthday/Bachelorette weekend in Niagara Falls! Embarrassing photos can be found on Facebook...

Secondly, we are 40 days from the wedding and 13 days until the Stag & Doe! We are very excited for both but with the Stag & Doe fast approaching we are eager for everyone to participate in fun and games with GREAT prizes to be won!!

Lastly, Brandon and I have been keeping busy with last minute wedding related tasks. On Friday, June 15th we had our Engagement Shots...finally. It was great fun and we are excited for everyone to meet our amazing photographer, Bruce Zinger. We had the shoot at St. James Cathedral and should get to see the images in a few weeks. On Saturday, June 16th Brandon's groomsmen surprised him with his Bachelor Party. The information I have been privy to was a fun filled afternoon of paintball and then dinner...and then several hours that are unaccounted for... but he had a terrific time! While Brandon was celebrating with the guys I was accompanied to my first dress fitting by my mom, Brittni (MOH), Jan (Brandon's mom), and Laura (VVSTBMIL...inside joke). The dress was beautiful and fit perfectly! No need for alterations which the bank account, and Brandon, thanks me for. This coming weekend, Saturday, June 30th, we meet with our Officiant, Pastor Charles Sathmary, and iron out details for the ceremony. I cannot believe we are less than 6 weeks away from the wedding. Lots of little things left to do but it is all very exciting!

Thank you to everyone for all their generosity and support through all the planning we are so excited to celebrate with you all on the big day!

Lots of Love xoxo

My Surprise Bridal Shower

Thank you SOOOOO much to everyone who was involved in this creative, thoughtful, embarrassing, awesome day! Brandon and I were blown away by the generosity and thoughtful messages that were given to us. We are truly grateful to have you all in our lives. I had such an amazing time seeing family and friends that I have not seen in years and meeting new women. This was a great opportunity to get mildly prepared for what the wedding will be like... it was a little overwhelming, but in a good way!

So for those of you who could not make it I will fill you in on what it was like: the theme, the food, the company and the gifts, followed by pictures... be prepared Elton John makes an appearance!

My Aunt Liz (mom's brother's wife) opened her home for this event and it was perfect! Lots of space, A/C (which was a must with all those bodies!) and cute cats and dog that some guests threatened to take home. The theme was MOVIES, which of course was perfect for moi! There was a banner that read "Oscar Choice Liz in Love at First Alien" (it is in a picture), mini red carpet, and movie decorations all over.

The food was delicious. Aunt Liz made Lasagna which was YUM-MY! There was a terrific spread of caesar salad, fruit with chocolate dip, a pastry that I am not sure of the name but it is in pictures, nachos and dip, and more that I cannot recall but I am told was provided in the most part by my bridesmaids. Katie (Bridesmaid) and Brittni (MOH) put together a movie themed snack table. Brittni made cupcakes with caramel corn on top and Katie put together a popcorn station. It was a hit! I tried many times to make it up there... I wanted popcorn so badly, but everytime I made a break for it I got stopped... luckily Katie left me a popcorn maker to take home and I got to take home some of the extras :).

There were 24 ladies there including myself and many who sent their regrets but it really was a great group. Everyone had a lot of fun participating in some of the games and watching me embarrass myself in others. I cannot tell you how many ladies groped me throughout the afternoon... my pink bow nipples on my large breast plates where attracting all the ladies LOL.

When it came to gifts as I said before we were blown away by the generosity. Our parents had passed along the message that no gift was required, of course, but we did have a registry and we were looking for contributions to our honeymoon in Disney. The monetary contribution we received was very substantial and so greatly appreciated and will be put towards many exciting dinners and excursions while we are in Orlando. Those that gave gifts found such creative thoughtful things. Brandon's mom gave us a beautiful set of Paderno pots and pans wrapped in such a creative way. She used a set of cute tea towels instead of wrapping paper it was such a good idea. Brittni's mom's gift has Liz written all over it! She found beautiful book ends that look like an old Keystone Movie Projector, a collection of vintage movie posters, and a great beach bag. Brandon's Grandmother got me a great travel bag that was on the registry. I am so excited to break it in on my birthday weekend! Shannon McNea, a friend of Jan's, came up with such a thoughtful gift that also had Liz written all over it but for a different reason. She got me a cupcake tray with Disney cupcake wrappers and put together a little recipe book of Disney inspired cupcakes as well as a La Sensa gift card. Finally, Brittni put together a travel pack for me: a beautiful vintage suit case (for show not really to be used, but I love it!) and inside she put a bathing suit cover up, sparkly flip-flops, Danier passport cover, La Vie En Rose gift card, and 2 really cute travel tags... I told Brandon he can use the pink and yellow bird one :D haha. As you can see the generosity and thoughtfulness was overwhelming.

On the drive home Brandon and I were talking about Thank You cards and how we did not want to use the same ones we will use after the wedding because people would get two of the same... we decided to create movie themed Thank You cards for all the bridal shower guests so those will be printed this week. I hope people like them... last minute design change :)

Now for pictures...*Sigh*

Never Ending Invitations

We are now less than 3 months to the big day! Even into the double digits - 88 days!

After weeks of working on invitations they are done!!!! It was well worth the work but my fingers are looking forward to a break. They will be mailed out tomorrow and hopefully will be arriving before the end of next week. I cannot wait to hear what everyone thinks.

Next is the Stag and Doe! Tomorrow I also hope to book the venue and then details will follow but we have already started to accumulate some fun prizes! If anyone has ideas of fun games please let us know.

I know this is a short post but we do not have many updates. Hopefully I will have more to share in the next few weeks.

Keep an eye on the mailbox! xoxo

4 months to go!!

122 days to go! Oh my goodness, before the end of April we will be out of the triple digits and into the double digit countdown...

So here is the update from the last month (Anything in green is a link to a related site):

1) 5 of 6 bridesmaid dresses have come in! 2 of the girls have picked theirs up and they are going to look great.

2) I have picked out shoes for the bridesmaids to choose from. They are from Spring and they can pick whichever style they will feel most comfortable wearing.

3) We have booked our baker!! J'Adore Cakes Co. We are so excited to work with Isabelle she really is very talented and her cake was delicious! As mentioned before we are doing a cupcake cake to display on the candy buffet table. This way guests can help themselves to a cupcake during the evening. We plan to have a small cake at the top so Brandon and I can do the traditional cutting of the cake.

4) The Stag and Doe is looking like a go but we are still trying to decide between a few venues for the best bang for our buck. We are really hoping it will be a lot of fun and will get a good turnout.

5) As many of you know, Brandon and I have lived together through our entire relationship and therefore have accumulated many household things you would typically ask for on a registry. We do realize that it is time to replace some things and a gift registry is a great opportunity for that. We do not expect gifts at all and appreciate the generosity of those who do give us one. What we are requesting is if your preference is to purchase a tangible gift please visit The Bay as we have registered there under, Elizabeth Brown and Brandon Worley, however if you are indifferent we would really prefer money that we can put towards a fantastic memorable honeymoon.

6) Finally, I suppose, is that the honeymoon is booked :D. We will be leaving Sunday, August 5 for Walt Disney World in Orlando for 7 days and then off to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for 3 days. We are so excited!! We are staying at the Boardwalk Inn and have picked some terrific restaurants to eat at during our stay. Brandon has taken over planning as he wants to throw in some surprises for me so this is all I know. Honestly, I don't need anything else but he won't listen, 10 days away with my husband somewhere hot with rides and Disney characters is going to be perfect!

Next on my to-do list:
1) Book Stag and Doe venue
2) Book Hairstylist and Makeup Artist
3) Address those invitations!!

As always I love to hear everyone's comments and feedback. Talk to you all soon.

5 months to go!!!

Firstly, I apologize for not posting more often. I planned to post more then once a month but time has been disappearing... I swear I made the 6 months to go post like 2 days ago haha. Everyone said time would fly once we hit the 1 year mark but this is madness. At least we are on track.

So on to details... need to be quick here! Next thing we know we'll  blink and I'll be walking down the aisle. *butterflies in my tummy*

1) So I spoke with our officiant, Reverend Charles Sathmary, and we are very excited to meet with him. He is very accommodating to our requests and seems to have some very creative additions that we can consider for the ceremony.

2) The girls have ordered their dresses:
Hayley and Katie will be wearing this dress
Hayley Gillis
Katie Rasmussen

Samantha and Diana will be wearing this dress
Diana Mao
Samantha Northrup
Brittni and Nancy will be wearing this one
Brittni Gorecki
Nancy Cai
 3) CAKE!!! mmmmmmmMMmmmmmmmMmm

I have scheduled appointments for Saturday, March 17th to do some yummy taste tests:

We want a cupcake cake to display on the candy buffet table. We think this will be a fun addition since dinner includes dessert. Guests can help themselves to a cupcake during the evening. We plan to have a small cake at the top so Brandon and I can do the traditional cutting of the cake.

4) Finally, we are trying to decide if we want to have a Jack & Jill (aka Stag & Doe) to try and help pay for some of the wedding/honeymoon. We are in the beginning stages of the planning and are trying to decide on a venue to host it. Any ideas welcome! Most guests are between Scarborough and Hamilton so something convenient for all would be ideal. We also are looking for any items that could be donated for silent auction, door prizes, etc. I was able to contact the advertising agency where I interned and got some fun movie SWAG which will be great door prizes or additions to other items. Any ideas or suggestions are more then welcome.

I think that is all for now. Hopefully I will post again before the 4 month mark... OH NO I BLINKED... phew... still March 3rd!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it... a change to the last post.

So yesterday was a wedding errand day. I was lucky enough to be accompanied by one of my beautiful bridesmaids Samantha (aka Samma) who was a great help!

First off we went to the Old Mill, which Sam had yet to see, and spoke with the florist. We gave our deposit so we are officially using the Old Mill Flower Shoppe. Then we wandered the grounds, saw a sample guest room, all of which have AWESOME Jacuzzi tubs, and got to see some of the banquet rooms set up with similar linens to what we are getting. For all of our guests who would like the convenience of staying at The Old Mill Inn the night of our wedding I have listed the rates below. All of our guests receive 30% off the rack rate for each room.

Then we went to David's Bridal to set up an account with the chosen bridesmaid dresses... didn't work out quite as planned but worked out in the long run. So turns out not all of the dresses listed in the previous post are available to order so the new choices for the bridesmaids... after much discussion are:

The plan is that since we have 6 bridesmaids 2 girls can each wear a dress and then there will be some consistency. I am happy with the choices in the end. I like that the top of each dress is a similar style and then each girl can pick the bottom style that they feel most comfortable in. Now to decide on shoes and accessories...

6 months until the big day!!

It is hard to believe that Brandon and I have been engaged for a year and a half at this point... and in 6 months we will be married!

I actually have quite a few updates for everyone...

1) We have sent out our Save the Dates. Sadly it seems as though Canada Post has failed to deliver them all... not to worry though the invitations will be sent out in the next few months. I have decided to post an image of the Save the Dates since most have been received. There were designed and mailed as postcards.

Front of Save the Date

Back of Save the Date
2) Brandon has chosen a suit (tuxedo) he wants to wear. Unfortunately, we will be going with Moores, the details about the issues we have had is too long so I will spare you all. I'm am just happy that Brandon loves the tux. It is a new Vera Wang Charcoal and he will look amazing in it!

3) Once again, we have been back and forth but have settled on David's Bridal for the bridesmaid dresses. We have selected 4 styles of dresses for the 6 girls to pick from. This way each lady can hopefully pick a dress they feel very comfortable in. David's Bridal has a different colour palette so the colour we will be going with is "Plum".

4) We are trying to organize our Engagement Photo shoot. We are hoping to have them taken in the snow to have the contrast from our summer wedding photos. As you can all probably assume it has been difficult to arrange this as Spring seems to have come early... We will give it a few more weeks and if there still is no opportunity then we will have to just do something else.

5) We have contacted bakeries to inquire about cake options and pricing. In the upcoming month we will try to go in for taste tests. Our top 3 bakeries are Sweet! BakeryJ'Adore Cakes Co., and I do! Wedding Cakes.

I think that is all the updates for now. Hopefully I will have another post before the 5 month mark but time sure is flying now!
Talk to you all soon. xoxoxo
